So this is not Custom Maid 3D 2. It’s the second version of that game.  It’s complicated.

 

So for those who are not aware, Custom Maid 3D by Kiss is one of the biggest 3D sex animator/character creator games. Besides Illusions games(Sexy beach, Honey Select, etc.) this is basically the most famous of the games in that genre.

As for this, think Honey Select but with way more dating sim/RPG like elements. Unlike Illusion’s stuff that is fairly light on text beyond some plot stuff, Custom Maid 3D 2 and it’s spinoffs have a lot of text for it’s excuse plot. It even has full text sex events that use it’s animations in a VN like way.

Story

So like the other Custom Maids, your uncle has called you to his escort maid club. There he explains his club and has you sign to become the owner. He then books it with his maid. The secretary comes in and reveals what just really happened. So in this super customizable building, your uncle ran so many projects that the place went near bankrupt. In a bid to fix this they sold almost everything, let almost everyone go, and now your uncle just had you sign the remaining debt and building to you.

To help out and not yourself get into massive debt, you have three maids to train for this escort club. Basically train the maids in sex and entertainment so that they can earn you enough money to survive. For whatever reason, you don’t actually have to sell out your maids. In fact a lot of content is behind keeping them to yourself, with a lot of events about you becoming their lovers. There is NTR, but only for the main 3 you start out with, and then only if you let it happen. I had to for content, but the game lets you turn off that content even showing up at the start.

Game also has a story mode that goes into the 3 main maids becoming idols. It’s not really something most players will probably care about, but it’s there and it’s long. Even has branching routes(though you get both either way) and some unique NPCs that join your company.

Each maid personality and each unique maid also have story lines that I guess are suppose to be romance stories.

Gameplay

The core of the game is choosing what the maids do during the day and night to raise their stats and earn money. You basically have sex stats and job stats. Sex stats are only their to allow you to unlock more sex options for that maid, while day stats have a variety of uses, mainly for the three stater maids.

Before talking about day stats though, lets talk about the building you now own. It starts with two facilities in it, and you can install more as you earn money, up to 12. These buildings influence which jobs and trainings you can have your maids do plus a few of them open up sex rooms with unique options. Each facility built will generally give you an event to hire an extra maid, a unique maid who can only work and do nothing else. They basically exist for you to earn easy money while you train the main three. Each facility can be upgraded so that you earn more stats or money by making use of it. Which is actually where most of the day stats are used.

So there are six day stats, and they are basically chores and idol related things. The biggest use for them is to upgrade the facilities, as the higher upgrade options usually require a maid with a few thousand points in a relevant stat and maybe a material item you can buy. For most of the maids, this is all the day stats really do, though they might also affect how much you earn from working the various jobs. The other use is the story mode, which only can be finished once the main three maids have high enough stats. They don’t do anything else. Get one maid to 9999 in all six and you are set for everything. Maids also have maid class’s, which are… not linked to the job stats at all. Doing the training and jobs gets you maid xp, which raises their level in their maid class. Get to 10 to get a bonus 5 to the stamina stats for the maid and the sex selection screen. Do each job once and they should max out.

 

So I’m going to go through creating a maid and the various ways you can influence her. A number of these can alter their lines slightly in the yotogi/sex mode. This is the bulk of the game. Customizing your maids to your tastes.

So of course first you can build your maid by changing their hair, proportions, clothes and such. Any of this can be changed at any time. You start with a very small list of clothing options, but as you build facilities and by things from the shop you get an okay number of outfits. After building their looks or loading some preset/ other people’s maids, you reach the final option in the list. In this stats screen you can change the maid’s personality, name them, choose there age, whether they will start as a virgin(virginal or anal or both), and apply maid points(explained later). 1 Maid point = 20 points in a stat, and at certain thresholds you unlock features, which are mostly meaningless. Things done on this screen can only be changed at creation of a maid. Once that’s done, you now have a cautions trainee maid to raise.

So first things first is deciding what you want to do with that maid. You have training activities to raise job stats, jobs to earn money, and yotogi/sex training. Sex training is the most useful and what most players are going to be focused on, so lets go into that. When you enter yotogi, you will get a quick conversation with the maid. This can raise their popularity stat, which is how you raise their relationship with you. At certain amounts, you can do their romance story events to raise them from cautions to friends to trust(faithful) and finally to lovers. For the most part this changes some small lines during the sex stuff and opens a few sex events. This is non reversible, as just about everything aside from a maid’s looks are.

So you finish talking and choose a room. There’s about 8 rooms to have sex in, though only 3 of them really matter. As you raise your club rank and build rooms you unlock more options, and the only options that really matter are the bath, the SM Club, and the Shopping Mall. These three have their own fetish scenes that only appear in them, while also allowing basically every other scene that need certain room features at the same time.

So then you are presented with the yotogi skill menu. Based on the sex stats of the maid you unlock titles which then unlock sex acts for this mode. You get sex stats by using actions during the acts, which are limited by a girls mental stat, which raise only by mastering maid classes by doing the training stuff. Each sex act has a cost of stamina, if you pick to many your maid will faint at the end of the session and will become unusable for a day or so. Each act has three levels, but the difference between the levels is nothing that I could tell. You might get better stats or the maid will say slightly different things as she becomes more comfortable with the act, Once you get to level three the act is mastered, but you cans till see level 1 and 2 in the memory mode.

So you do the sex stuff, get some stats, and unlock more sex options. Eventually you will unlock scenes with names that have [] in front of them. These unlock fetishes. Some sex acts have options that are blocked do to the maid not having certain fetishes. These basically make the maid react differently or say additional lines, though a few do change the math of the scenes. For example, whipping is something the maids don’t like. It lowers their arousal stat(4 levels, you need at level 3 to orgasm. Each level changes the animation slightly), and doesn’t raise the other gauge at top(a limit break gauge of sorts, it allows you to change from using the maids mental stat to this other gauge until it runs out). But once they have a whipping fetish they enjoy the act instead and you get arousal from it.

So after a while of training your maid will be promoted out of trainee. You have the choice of making her an exclusive maid or a free maid. Game wise, free makes more money while having a few maid titles for swapping/orgy events. Exclusive makes less money while working, but gets titles for other sex acts. In game, free maids sleep with customers while working, while exclusive don’t. You can make free maids lovers, and make the three main maids free maids which makes the NTR kind of weird since they’re sleeping around anyway, but yeah.

After that you are basically done for now. Either start the next maid or just sit on your favorite until the next dlc comes out.

 

There’s also an idol rhythm game. It’s not important, though it is tied to the club’s rating, which is basically the game’s end goal. Reach a 5 star club. This is mainly done via the story about idols, which does have the rhythm minigame show up. You can just let the game auto this, though you might need some stats to win if you do that. It’s not hard, and there are a few different song and dance numbers, but it’s nothing most of the players of this will probably do much with. You can also just do the game whenever at night to earn some money, which can help early on(as later you will be rolling in money).

This is one of those rare games where achievements matter. As you complete the in game achievements you get maid points, which is basically stat points you can dump into any maid you create later in the game. So you basically can get a jump start on training later maids, and by doing so unlock features. These, as far as I can tell, just give the maids more to say during their hiring interview. They might influence jobs or stat gains, but not by much. Really maid points in general aren’t a great reward.

H and Other stuff

This is a sex animation and character creator game. It does have sex scenes with text and animations, but most of the game is picking some sex options, playing them by picking actions within those options, and watching the animations(and the subbed dialogue during those animations). There are a few different themes to the sex scenes, like S&M play, soap play, swapping/sharing, threesomes, and so on. It’s up to you what you see after you grind through the start of the game.

As for the actual text scenes, they are actually fairly long. Which is why the bad translation is such a problem to me. The most unique thing about Custom Maid is the text scenes, and they read like trash right now. The whole story does actually, but it hurts most in the sex scenes. As for content, most are lovey dovey things, though the real NTR happens in them as well with each of the three starting maids getting there own 4 scene substory with some random asshole. These are easily skipped or turned off, but if you want everything you have to see them.

At launch, which is what we have right now, there are three “personalities.” These have weird translations, but basically are pure girl(muku), rindere(ruudere), and serious(majime). These influence what the girls say in sex scenes(alongside a boatload of other things) and each have their own romance stories and couple of unique sex animation scenes(mostly copied animation with a unique option or two in them), but the biggest difference is their voices. So at launch their are three different voice sets for a majority of the game.

There are also “Unique” maids, girls you hire through the story that get a single unique text sex scene and some events but otherwise function as extra maids, but with actually good stats so they earn way more. Almost all of them are virgins despite all working for other clubs.

Compared to Honey Select and most other Illusion games, this has a more anime style. Which to me at least fits the theme better. Having body parts go through each other and boobs shaking like crazy looks less awkward on an anime looking body then a realistic one. I also just like brighter colors in general.

Strangely, the memory/scene replay mode in this is handled very oddly. Only the three starting maids allow to watch the story scenes and have the NTR options in their galleries. The other maids share the dating scenes and other event sex scenes unlocks based on personality, but for the story and NTR you have to choose the main maids to watch. In general you should just stick to the main three unless you want the unique maid content or some yotogi/sex animation the main three can’t get because of exclusive/free split or something.

 

Oh, and guest mode. It’s basically a different style of event based sex scenes where you either pretend or are a customer of the club. Based on the maid the events in the mode can change a decent amount, but there’s no unlockables so I didn’t spend a lot of time on it.  It’s a cool idea though and fits with the games theme of an escort club well.

Verdict

So I like Custom Maid more then just about anything Illusion has ever put out. I like text in sex scenes, and I do like maids. The game has issues though. Kiss has stated they intend to fix the translation and have opened up places to submit errors to have fans help fix the game, which hopefully crushes at least the bigger issues.

As for the game itself, Custom Maid has always been an unbalanced mess, but chances are you aren’t playing this for the gameplay but for the sex anyway. Honestly I’ll always find it weird how much effort is put into the story(and idol dancing) when you know what people are actually here for. I do find this initial release light on content, especially songs and clothes. You put on like 8 or so shows as part of the story, and each has two songs. The game only has about 5 songs total. As more dlc is released that will be less of an issue but right now? Lots of repetition. The clothing options are also really low, probably because they try to hard to stick to maid outfits and related work outfits and not enough on general clothing(actually it’s because they are selling clothing on their store for actual money). I think you start with only like 5 tops and bottoms, and through unlocking get like 15-20 total.

This is the kind of game where you probably already know if you want to spend any time on it. Reviews aren’t changing opinions here.

 

Just like Illusions stuff, mods make a big part of the game. I’m not using any, but a save editor and more clothing really help the game out.

 

DLC/Addons

GP01

The first released in English pack, it adds harem(threesomes), neroterose(sex with another man then reporting back), and swapping with preset couples as sex events. It also adds live mode, where instead of running the club you can have the maids do whatever based on the rooms you have. This lets you really see the difference between free and exclusive maids as you see them actually work in the different rooms. Also adds a pole dance room and song. Because why not.

If someone has a save editor setup for the game and could do that and send me the save I’ll swap the saves. I’ll make sure to do that for every personality release from now on.

I do intend to update the save as more content comes out. There will be saves for every step of the major dlc releasing as they come out. GP01 save has been added. Saves will contain older versions in case someone wants that for something. Save folders will be numbers, later number contain progress for things above them.
