Length- If you actually read most of it, probably 30+ hours. On easy and just running through like 3-5.
Never thought I’d actually play something in this series…
CoC and TiTs, or Corruption of Champions and Trials in Tainted Space are text focused adventure games that have been around for a good while now. I think I remember seeing the thread for when CoC first started and basically skipped right over it, text only didn’t mean much to me then. Even now it’s not really something that would drive me to play it, except they added art to the following games. TiTs has bust art for some characters you can meet to help the imagination for the way to much pron you can get up to in that game, and this throws in cgs for special occasions and basically everyone has bust art.
So I decided for whatever reason to give it a go and I got hooked enough to get through it’s current content.
To be honest, this isn’t my type of game. My completionist side gets in the way of me enjoying actual roleplaying, so despite all the chances to act as a consistent character or be committed to a relationship like I’d prefer, instead sleeping with everyone and being inconsistent are basically required to get everything. I don’t mesh well with these kind of games.
Story
So in a completely different world then CoC1, you are some random person at a tavern in the northern regions. One day a pink cat lady barges in at the dark hours and needs help, her sister was kidnapped. You jump to help and in the process see a cult summon a demon, and get your body changed.
Basically you are now physically malleable. Any food can change your body shape into another race or just size. Even your genitals are shiftable. Also, that demon? Corrupting the world and has promised to come back for your very special soul. You basically go on a quest to stop her just to stop her from killing/corrupting you.
Corruption isn’t exactly evil, though enough of it does make you eject your soul turning you into a demon. One of many bad ends is hitting 100 corruption actually. It’s easy enough to manage though, sex with demon equals more corruption and praying and being selfless lowers it. It’s more of a measure of how self centered you are regarding pleasure, at least that was my take on it.
So you bring together a band of people you just happen to meet and go on to attempt to stop the demon. Only you can also romance her. There’s a decent amount of player choice in who you sleep with, what you look like at the end of this, and a decent number of questlines do have changes based on choices. As usual, be a nice person and get a bunch of content. Be a dick and lose access to some of it, for now at least.
Gameplay
Combat is bleh.
It’s apparently being revamped as an ongoing process, but really its just a process I go through in the game to get to more content. It’s turn based with you only controlling your own character. You get 5 specials, a basic attack, a sexual tease attack, defend, sense(what is enemy doing action), run, and flee. A lot of combat ends up being mash attack until you win. On the higher difficulties you can’t do that, but on lower ones it’s basically all you do.
Since it’s a text adventure kind of game, combat works in a phase kind of system. You see what has happened before your action in combat displayed then do your action, then the rest of that round is shown to you. Continue until fight ends. There are a small amount of unique win conditions you can find, but most are just kill other side. This feels like one of those RPGs that want to be complex and have a bunch of mechanics but it feels overwhelming to deal with for me. It’s probably help if skill descriptions also had ways to explain status effects they do instead of me just going with highest damage to not have to deal with complex stuff. Or maybe the amount of reading short circuited my brain and thinking about combat was just to much. Either way, the combat was just kind of there.
Most of the actual game is running around triggering events in it’s map system, trying to find quest items or advancing to the next personal goal or just passing time for stuff to happen. For me it was actively looking for how to get new characters pregnant or nude, to complete the bust gallery. I’m not sure how compelling this would be for someone without that kind of goal. This is the kind of game where if you aren’t going for completion or some personal end goal you better enjoy the writing.
Because of the events of the opening, any food your character eats can change them. While you can only pick from 5 races with some limited size options at the start, you can change basically anything once the world opens up. You can fuse food with alchemical reagents to affect certain body parts, to the point you can flip your gender at any time. Your class can also be changed at will. When it comes to the player little is permanent.
H and Other stuff
Lots. Mostly all of its just pure writing with a nude shot of the character you are sleeping with in the corner. Text only leads to a huge number of variations and types of scenes so in theory you can find something you like. It is surprisingly restrained in weird ways though, like everyone is so horny I can think of like maybe 1 scene where it feels like one of the two engaging in sex doesn’t care for it. So there really isn’t lacking in consent since as soon as someone is naked the other party is 100% on board, maybe higher corruption stuff leads to more hardcore stuff though I didn’t bother with high corruption yet.. There’s also not a lot of the odder fetishes like golden shower and such in that line. It’s mostly fury and mixed genders stuff. Lots of pregnancy too. To the point that I feel like playing vagina only misses out on a decent amount of art and scenes.
I don’t think calling it NTR would be right, but sleeping around is basically expected for a majority of the characters. Cait, the pink catgirl from the intro, will even tell you it’s her religious duty to sleep around, so don’t expect a monogamous relationship. There’s a few characters who might have that, but a majority of people you can sleep with are sexually active with anyone who walks up to them.
Character design is all over the place, owing to different artists. Boobs seem to mostly rest on the bigger side, while dicks range pretty drastically. Lots of different races so lots of colors.
Surprisingly a decent amount of the cg art the game has isn’t just porn. A lot of it is, but around 10-15% of the cgs are of emotionally big moments, like marriages or festivals. A lot of fox stuff really, it’s clearly a favorite of one of the more productive content makers.
Verdict
So by the end of my time getting to the end of the current content, I really only cared for two characters. Cait and Kiyoko, or the pink cat from the intro and the dream fox lady you can meet really early on. I liked some of the lore stuff that’s really spoilery, and I don’t mind the idea of romancing the villain but still being a good guy. Reading full text for h scenes is a nice novelty after the amount of things relying on animations or images.
Gameplay is bleh. Running around is fine and meeting new characters can be a visual treat, but the core combat doesn’t feel like it will ever be recommendable. For a game that’s very much not my type of game, I enjoyed enough of it that I don’t regret playing it.
Save feels kind of pointless though. All the art you unlock is unarchived in the game folder.
Might try TiTs eventually, sci-fi isn’t big with me but scavenger hunt style galley unlocks are fun for me.
Save for Corruption of Champions 2 V.533
Contains-
Two saves at the current endgame, generally opposite of each other. First is male, mostly a good guy while the second is a shemale, mostly just going for anything the other file missed. System save has like 95-100% of current gallery content unlocked. What’s left is either to RNG dependent for me to be confident it’s in the game, or just plain isn’t in it.
Below is some of the more obtuse busts and cg unlocks, the ones that were clearly made without game design or finding them naturally really in mind.
Busts
Shar, the harpy, has 6 busts of which 3 are nude. Unlike basically every other character, you don’t just make her naked on the spot you interact with her, but instead in the Cloister which you need to do an entirely unrelated sidequest to even open. This would be fine, if not for that fact Shar changes permanently after giving her an Olixivier, an item that makes her egg pregnant. Which you will likely have and give her on your first meeting.
Cait has two sets of bigger boob paths of growth. Finding the first one isn’t that hard, just give her the milky boob item. 16 times for max growth. The other is a mystery until you accidentally feed normal Cait to much food in one event or have her join you in a milk bath in another event to get thiccer Cait growth. This is the second hardest body morph for party member to find.
Elvara is a pink elf who is the only(current) character with different pregnancies based on if it’s your kid or Brints.
Berwyn is a completely moddable character. Four different chest sizes, dick sizes, vagina or not. Thankfully this is done in one event and you can skip around to get them all, but they also have a cg that shows every variant. Thankfully an update has a patch note that all variations of this one unlock happen when you see the base scene.
Silly mode as a concept. Really hope no characters get locked to difficulty like a few are locked to silly mode.
Prego harpy. A random encounter in the right side area. You need to get her pregnant and then stay around the area to find her when she’s pregnant. Then find her again to see her dressed and nude. There’s a batgirl who may also have this kind of thing.
A weird design decision regarding groups is that sometimes they are a single group in the gallery, and sometimes individuals and sometimes both. So the maids in your base for example, it’s not enough to see all 6 types nude and clothed, but also each of them individually and each grouping nude and clothed despite the art being the exact same. This does cause a few busts being currently impossible since some groups do not separate or at least cannot be found in all variations while not being in their group.
Cgs
The Goblin Succubus is just a random enemy, with a cg on losing to her 5 times. She’s not strong, and I never lost to her naturally once. Unless you are going for bad ends, you are not seeing this cg naturally ever.
Miko’s cg with Kiyoko. Basically double pregnant fox girl. Miko being pregnant requires being mostly done with all the fox people content, and she is only pregnant once. You need both of them heavily pregnant for this cg. Thankfully Kiyoko’s pregnancy can be rushed due to her mechanics, but this is still an awkward spot.
The orc camp 5 way cg, which requires all four female orcs pregnant at the same time and you leaving their camp with Arona in your party all at the same time. No hints, just happen upon this.
