Story

This is an RPG Maker XP game where you play as a girl by the name of Ellen. She is a busty blonde girl who can fight with a sword surrounded by men, who most want to have sex with her. She, being pure and not caring for sex, is just gathering money doing monster extermination jobs so she can go on an adventure.

One day after a job, a thief steals stuff from many people in her town. She finds the thief, he gropes her and then runs. After the entire town chasing him, he and Ellen end up pressed up together while hiding from some monsters. He gropes her a lot, and then gets beat up and thrown in prison. A few days later, a subhuman with magic(I think he’s a magic goblin) shows up, forces Ellen to strip in front of everyone, the elder then shows up and uses magic to stop him. Then a lot of misc events happen with the thief(trying to get the stolen stuff back) and the sub human(setting up the goal of the game) and his lackeys. Eventually the elder gets beaten up and Ellen needs to go get something from the thief and he ends up raping her. Then the game actually begins for real.

Until this point the game is linear, usually not even letting you go a single screen from where you are suppose to go. But after losing her virginity, the game opens up and the player can decide what to do. The game has one main goal, stop the subhuman from corrupting a crystal of light. This has two sub goals, one is to gather resources and money to cure the elder from a  curse, and the other is to get the strongest sword in the game.

At this point there are many sub events ending in sex, a couple of sidequests that reward with money or gear, and a lot of places to go.Its very shocking how big the game’s world is after you’ve been shuffled through the areas like the game is a presentation or something. Anyway, from here on out the game loses urgency and becomes something of a sandbox where the player decides what to do until they reach the end.

Gameplay

Let’s start talking about the out of combat stuff first. The first thing is that your character moves decently fast at all times, and while you can walk by using x there is never a need to do so. Not only do you not walk slow, but there are several checkpoints in all the areas around town that allow quick movement back to places and even an item that teleports you back to home can be found. Traveling is fairly easy and convenient is what I’m trying to say.

Two other things to note is gold and the day/night system. Unlike most RPGs, you get gold by selling things only. Only two monsters drop gold, everything else drops items to be sold or eaten(which I’ll get to). Eventually you can do prostitution for money(how much is based on cleanliness, and this is easily maxed by showering in the prostitution area), and this makes enemy drops for the most part pointless as you get more then enough from prostitution to afford any item. As for day and night, they are as usual. At night a few more h scenes can be accessed and shops are closed and during the day its the opposite. The only other thing is that once you can strip Ellen clothes off she can go completely naked at night but not during the day. Yes, you can chose how much she wears buy buying and reading some books. It’s completely cosmetic, but nice.

Okay, now for combat. It’s a normal 1 vs 1 turn based system where you always go first. The odd part is the actual attacking. When you go to attack you can spend AP on four different stats(atk, dex,agi, and def)and the game shows how much you will do and what the chances to be hit are etc. By spending AP you can change the predictions. Sounds deep and complex? It’s not. A little into the game I realized a simple fact, raising defense is worthless and as long as hit and dodge were above 50% all that mattered was damage.

The rest was just managing Ap, as you have a limited amount. It goes up as you level, and every five turns in combat you get some back. This is done by converting VIT into AP, and after battles VIT is also used to heal you back to full(and run from combat against higher level enemies). VIT is restored by eating/drinking things, and goes to full after sleeping or interacting with a well. You also can only eat a certain number of things a day, so the well is the better option. The only real reason to eat is meat. Meat items give Ellen more max VIT, which means you can be out longer fighting(or prostitute more, as each man costs Ellen 200 VIT). The weakest enemies that give the worst experience in an area will almost always drop some meat item, so getting some is no problem.

In combat you do get a few skills, but there all worthless. First Aid, your only way to heal in combat since you can’t use items, heals 3 health for 3 VIT and can only be used once a turn(but does not end a turn). The other skills you find are not much better. One lets Ellen cover her boobs if she is fighting naked, another lets her recover AP earlier in combat but only once a day… They just don’t help. You get one useful skill, and its more like another fighting style. It has the same system as the original attack, but everything costs 2 AP, the enemy does 2x or more damage, your damage skyrockets, and you go last. This is rarely useful, and only serves to quicken a fight by one or two turns. This means that every turn you will use attack since the skills are worthless, and luckily it remembers how many points you spent on what and you just end up mashing the confirm key. Instead of being deep or interesting, it’s just tedious. It’s even worse when you have to change a few points since the enemy went from accurate to dodgey and then back the next turn.

The only thing left to note is that this game does not tell you what to do. Once the prologue is done and you enter free mode, the game gives you no clues on how to do anything or where to go to do anything. To some this is nice, but you could end up not unlocking prostitution until the very end since you had no idea what the trigger was, or miss great things just because you had no idea to talk to this guy a bunch of times after another event. Or have a hell of a time finding enemies your level to level up from, since enemies below you don’t give much experience. It can just be a pain sometimes to figure out where to go, since you are given full freedom with so much to explore(3 paths from the village, 2 of which split and several caves and a 11 floor dungeon).

Oh and this game has “achievements” in the name of titles. Other then flavor text they do nothing. Q lets you skip text, and if you want to walk(which does nothing), hold the x key. The movement speed is actually pretty good, but sadly you cannot speed up combat. So you have to watch every animation and see every text box, it gets old pretty quickly since there ate no flashy moves.

H Scene and Other Stuff

The sex in this game is very samey. Even though the circumstances and # of people may differ, the general idea of every scene is the same. Ellen will resist while being groped/inserted into, but during the groping or after penetration she will quickly fall to the pleasure, and afterwards regret what happened. Every scene shares this style.

The main h theme of this game is degeneration, at which the game does a decent job of showing. During the prologue part of the game you will see Ellen get groped a lot, and each time she will slowly lose herself until eventually she gets raped and doesn’t really resist. After that she just ends up sleeping with most anyone after some pressure or blackmail. The other h themes that show up are mind control, gang rape, prostitution, and exposure play.

While I say degeneration is the main theme, the main part of every scene would be the start where Ellen gets her boobs groped. This is fully animated and gets a lot of detail compared to the still cgs most everything else gets. The art for this is fine, but for the other animated scene, kissing, I have a problem with the male’s faces. Their bug eyed and just look ugly, its no wonder Ellen never did anyone if they all look like they do in the kissing cgs.

Overall art is fine. The cgs are a well done offering several different poses. The art for Ellen is in my opinion high quality. It’s a hard thing to describe, but her proportions and eyes make her look like she could be a real person while the coloring is the only thing that makes her look like a game character.

Last thing, while the game acts like Ellen has giant breasts, her size is not really that huge. She is definitely on the bigger size, but her head is bigger then her boobs unlike some other games. I would say they look above average, or around right for her build.

Other then what I’ve mentioned above, most everything else is stock RPG Maker stuff.

Final Opinion and Save

Overall, I would call Sangeki no Gear a mediocre game. The prologue to free mode switch bothers me, sure, but my real problem with the game is its combat and scaling. The way combat works, while trying to be unique, is just bland and annoying to manage. On the other hand, the game scales very awkwardly to the point that either you crush your enemy, they crush you, or endurance battle where you rely on not getting hit to win. While the last one can be fun, in this game with so little in-combat options its just tedious. Beyond that, the scaling is just off. Levels are kind of worthless as they don’t seem to improve the mains stats, but only Ap and VIT.

The h is alright, but very samey and the kissing stuff just looks horrible. I don’t really like the corruption thing, but that might be this games strongest point. I would have to say of all the games I have played to this point the corruption of Ellen into  slut was done the best in this game. So if that is what you are into, this game is great at that but does little else well enough for me to recommend it.

 

There are two saves in the download link. One is to the replay room with all 27 scenes, the other is in free mode. The second one is for seeing all the second version scenes that don’t exist in the replay room. Both saves contain best gear and all titles.
