Bunny Black is a dungeon crawler where you take control of Darx(and only Darx), an adventurer turned demon minion with a large appetite for sex and suffering from power loss.

Story

As said above you play as Darx, a man who was just turned into a minion of a demon overlord. Instead of rebelling and getting killed, he decides to instead be her servant with the goal of bedding her at some point. To do this he must rise in rank, and he starts at the very bottom due to losing all his combat abilities he gained in the last few years, because becoming a demon de-aged him about 10.

From that point on the game becomes something of a grind fest. In order to trigger new events you have to up your rank by gaining renown, which is gained from quests. As you rank up you add new girls to your harem and can access new dungeons, fight Darx’s old adventuring friends, and gain the respect of the demon community he is now a part of.  All in all, not much big really happens, the game’s story is more of a number of barely connected events that you go deal with until the finally hits, instead of a flowing narrative.

Before gameplay though, I should talk about Darx himself as he is anything but a generic good guy protagonist. If I had to compare him to anyone it would be Rance, though Darx is less of a complete dick to guys, and is generally smarter and more sociably sensible. Through becoming a demon, Darx not only de-ages but also gained an even bigger sex drive then he had before. Due to the mana the overlord used to revive him,  Darx needs to have sex to discharge or risk overloading, and a single woman is nowhere near enough to contain all the mana, or satisfy Darx.

So throughout the game he screws literally everything with tits, most of the time raping them because they attacked him first. Not only does he rape virgins, he also goes for hours, constantly going until the woman faints only to wake them up from some pain or orgasm later as he continues. I bring this up because if you can’t find a way to like Darx, there is a good chance nothing in this game will really amuse you as Darx is really the center piece. He is always present and is not shy to state his opinion or take advantage of a weakened girl, though he does soften up later to a majority of the cast and beyond the sex drive ends as a decent fellow. Basically, this is a game where the female characters exist only to highlight the male, instead of the other way around found in most games.

Gameplay

Bunny Black is a fairly competent dungeon crawler. The dungeons have chests, traps, secret doors, and you can barely see more then a few feet at a time. Enemies wander the halls and will go after you, which in corridors is hard to avoid but easy in open spaces as you can move twice to their single move. Overall navigation can be difficult to start with as you lack any map abilities that let you see your location or traps, but once you recruit allies with those skills the dungeons(there’s 10, each with a different wall texture) become pretty simple.

The combat is where my problems really lie. You can have a party of up to 9 characters vs up to 9 other characters with both having space for a lot of extras that jump in when one dies. The thing is though that only Darx is controlled by the player. Which means with a full party and a full enemy party you have to watch 17 animations play out before your next turn, since this is turn based. Holding control does speed up the animations a bit, but only enough to bring it up to bearable, though the number of different attacks and animations is surprisingly good. To bad only Darx gets most of them.

The actual combat is pretty basic though, everyone does one action and then the next person with the highest speed goes. Continue until one side is completely gone or you ran away. You can choose tactics for your party but even with this they aren’t very good or smart and will still heal/attack the wrong person an so this means Darx needs to pull the rest of the team.

Unlike the demons you can recruit, Darx can gain equipment and you can choose his skill growths which means he will end much stronger then anyone else can. Level ups in this game give you health and skill points to boost a skill, all combat stat growths come from skills or gear which is why Darx is so good.  Monsters get personal skills to try and balance this with things like mini map skills or raising stats of other units, but they just don’t compare to the number of choices Darx gets. This also leads to another issue in that Darx has to play the healer, since he gets the best spells and you can control him, but he is also the best damage dealer and tank. He’s the best character but he can’t really play every roll, so he will be lopsided depending on what you raised.

Skills are either passive or triggered effects. Each triggered skill gets a number of uses depending on level, and these only come back from resting or using the incredibly rare skill heal trap. Luckily missions tend to be short enough that 3-5 uses of anything will usually be enough, and the generic attacks have infinite uses so you will never not be able to do anything. There are a lot of skills and so Darx can end up a widely different character in different playthroughs.

My actual complaint for the game is on its difficulty. At the beginning you get four options and you should really start with either of the first two. As this game is at its hardest at the start when you have no gear, no money to recruit with, and if people do die no money to rehire them(semi perma death with raising costs). So you start doing the easiest missions to gain money so you can gear up, and then once you reach the point of trying to level up then boss enemies will start to spawn because of your renown being to high and they will trounce you with shear numbers. If you can survive through them though, the game becomes very easy very quickly. Once you get your footing few fights will be dangerous and you will have the resources to deal with the hard ones, which means the game quickly goes from irritatingly hard to cake walk easy, and the only thing difficulty will really change is the length of the transition from too hard to too easy.

Overall the only thing of complexity in the game is capturing girls, skills, and opening chests. Girl capturing, from what I can tell, is when Darx kills a generic female human. Doing this enough times to a specific class of generic will get you an h scene with that generic and eventually if you continue killing them they will join your team free of charge. Skills is generally at level 5 or ten you will unlock any new skills the the previous.  And chest opening is stupid. All loot in this game is random, enemies only drop chests and chest loot is random whether from an enemy or found on the floor. You can either pay to open a chest and usually get something useless or use the chest opening skill. Using that skill triggers a minigame where your party shouts guesses that mean nothing and you can guess what kind of trap the chest has. Getting it wrong hurts you and depending on the trap give you the item anyway, or you can save scum the trap as the trap does not change upon loading the game. Really, at the start just sell chests and then have the shop open them, its a lot easier then dealing with the games stupid design.

Oh, and this game has two NG+ things. One is you can bring over your monsters from the previous run, so when you hit start you can have your old team with a level 1 Darx. The other is it raises how much command you start with, which controls the number of people on your party. All characters have a command cost, and starting with extra makes putting together a team a lot easier.

Last thing, other then capturing scenes with the generics all game content hinges on Darx’s level and his renown. All scenes will trigger so long as Darx is a high enough level and you’ve done enough quests, so progress is very easy to do. As long as you don’t trigger the finally all content is available and the finally is easy to recognize. Just don’t do the red poster(this means story mission when selecting jobs) map out a dungeon job and you do whatever you want.

H content and other stuff

Mostly every character in the game starts with a decently long rape scene and then if they have more scenes, they get progressively shorter as the girl becomes more addicted/in love with Darx. This is best shown with the main heroine, Shia, who is the first victim given to Darx so he doesn’t die from the mana overload. Her story is probebly the longest one in the game, but its really just she going from hating Darx and wanting to kill him to wanting to be considered husband and wife, so I think she’s a good example of how sex works in this game. Beyond that, most scenes are of the very short variety with a few suprisingly long ones just popping up here and there. There’s a few bondage style scenes, and a lot of the scenes reuse cgs. Overall the porn is not something I would say is good, since its written in a very matter of fact way where Darx says what he does, girl moans or gasps in pain, Darx says what he does again. Its very undescriptive and makes a lot of the scenes samey in how they play out and feel.

For presentation, it’s alright. The animations are varied and each character is distinct and looks alright with most having normal body proportions, though nothing really stands out as amazing. For music and sound nothing really stands out but nothing really pissed me off, so its decent background stuff. The dungeon walls have some variety, around 10 different styles, so at least its not the same wall forever.

Verdict and Save

I would say Bunny Black is a mediocre game. It doesn’t really do anything gameplay wise to stand out as good, and with how little you control in combat it can become boring pretty quickly. The difficulty feels far to extreme in either direction instead of being a proper rise. The story parts are not very interesting and the sex scenes are mostly boring and very repetitive. Its a better dungeon crawler then Raidy, and its dungeon crawling is better then Yumina’s and DMC’s, but I think that just goes to show how bad the dungeons are in those games more then state how “good” they are in this game. The game can be enjoyed, just don’t expect anything amazing and pay attention to any hints people give you as there really is a certain way to play the game at the start so you can make headway into the experience.

Save contains all cgs and scenes unlocked, as well as when you start a new game you will start with a few generic female human minions.
