RPGMaker VxAce dungeon crawler game featuring cthulu mythos elements. The dev made Olceta Desert and Fort Rugome so they went from D&D inspired to Call of Cthulu I guess.

Story

Ren is a sweeper who goes around stopping cults and summonings of Old Gods. One day while on a mission for some yakuza she comes across some some Shoggoth. Her current weapons aren’t strong enough to kill them and leaving them till morning would create many problems, so she instead uses the military level explosives in a nearby warehouse to kill the Shoggoth and destroy the entire warehouse area of the town.

So she has to pay for damages. Luckily she’s friends with the yakuza boss so after a lot of fun with numbers Ren only owes 2 billion yen. So through prostitution and sweeping she needs to make some money. Lucky for her their’s a current craze in the town with digital books of dark magic that she needs to look into with her government contact. This eventually ends with her fighting an old god.

There is a mission in the game before the yakuza one but all it does is explain who Ren is and sets up a student who’s involvement with the rest of the game can be summed up as shows up in side quest.

Gameplay

So unlike Fort Rugome and Olceta, this doesn’t pretend to use the pen and paper combat, this is a straight RPGMaker combat game. It’s a dungeon crawler. Combat’s only unique trait is the gun mechanic where you have to reload after using your bullets but other then that standard combat. Oh and some enemies are immune to physical, but the game always points that out so its not a big issue. You can strafe in the dungeon as you please so its a pretty nice dungeon crawler for moving around in unlike a number of other ones I’ve played.

You buy skills with points you get at leveling so there is some builds. Usually you can either focus on guns, stats, spells/specials or support things. Eventually you can get everything but do make sure you get some good skills early on as they send you into the first real dungeon with only two people and it’s balanced for three. Once you get the nun the game eases up a lot though you will run through resources quickly. Thankfully each dungeon has a halfway point where you get easy access to traveling through the area because a door unlocked or something. As you will probably need to head home a few times before you start clearing dungeons. Each time you head home you heal and get attack items resupplied based on government agent party member’s passive skill, which helps a lot near the start when you can’t afford anything.

So Ren is in massive debt but she still has money and you will quickly notice that her money starts with three 000 before getting any numbers. That’s because the smallest amount of money in the game is a thousand. Everything is in the thousands or up, which makes the two billion seem slightly less ridiculous because you do indeed need to pay that off to get the good ending. If you don’t you get stuck with a debt ridden ending or one of the two prostitution endings.

The game has a day passage system that tracks day of the week but it’s only used for Ren paying interest on the debt. Every Friday I think she needs to pay a million. If you don’t, sex scene.

H and Other stuff

The sex is mostly rapey kinda stuff. Ren gets prostitution scenes for the most part and she ends up liking it or hating it depending on how you choose she acts before the scene starts. The other girls are raped, period. They all have different fetish things but it’s usually fat old guys going to town. I didn’t really care for any of the scenes but they are of a decent length. You get mind control, orgies, rape play, filming, prostitution and that’s the main ones.

Verdict and Save

I think it’s because of the fact I changed desks and had a clogged ear while playing this, but I didn’t care for it. I never really got excited or had any real fun, though I did chuckle a few times at the writing. This is definitely something different as few games really use Cthulu stuff but that has little to do with the sex so if you were looking for Cthulu tentacle/fishmen stuff you will be disappointed. Overall it’s decent with some difficulty issues as the first real dungeon is difficult but after that you can steam roll the rest of the game.

Save is at end game with access to the good end and the two sex ends. Also has the full bestiary except the final four monsters which are the final bosses. All sex scenes unlocked.
