First game of the year, and it was dark and pretty decent overall. RPG Maker VxAce, not technically corruption? Very linear, every scene is either game over or story.
Story
Botan is a kunoichi who is only good at sex and summoning her weapon. Her master went missing on a mission to investigate a merchant with ties to oni. As it turns out, having sex with a half oni makes a women a sex slave for life, so the master is probably dead or worse. Botan and her understudy are sent to investigate and assassinate the merchant. It immediately becomes dangerous and Botan struggles to complete her mission.
Unlike a lot of corruption games where at most you have a single story sex scene, Botan is attacked repeatedly and is broken at least once in plot. It does have a happy end thanks to her understudy, but this is a story where things go very south. A short story, but that is probably why I felt it was good. Compact and straightforward, dark and tragic. It took itself seriously enough to have some impact. Interesting.
Gameplay
Three types or modes. You have the main stealth mode, which is the travel stuff. Basically you don’t want to fight much(enemies give nothing), so you want to sneak around or assassinate(talk to from behind them) the guards to reach the end.
Next is the combat, which is simple. It uses DnD numbers, so you start by doing 1d4+3 and end doing 1d4+10 if you find all the gear. You have two techniques, an attack that doesn’t take a turn but does little damage or summoning clones that take a hit for you. Useful but overall most fights are just going to be a basic attack until you win. Items also don’t take turns to use, so you shouldn’t die if you bother opening chests at all.
The final main gameplay is sex resisting. Some guys will just grapple Botan, and try to shove their dick in. To avoid this(since that would be gameover), she seduces them by going with their movements until you decide your chances to kill them are high enough. Basically you get a few options to further the attack which raises your arousal and the man’s. Either max, you die. But to up your chance to escape(a d100 roll decides) you need to lead the enemy on. it has plenty of cgs and is interesting. I had great luck with this but I can imagine this being frustrating if you want to just go on.
The game also has some quick time stuff. Some of the story scenes have minigames where if you fail, gameover. Some fights have a look away style event. They add a bit but were kind of annoying to be in the middle of the scenes. Did add some weird flavor to them though.
H and Other stuff
The scenes are long, animated, and good. If you like women falling into depravity then you’ll like this one. Botan falls pretty quickly in the scenes I read, but she falls hard and it ends really bad for her in each case. Honestly I really liked the few scenes I read. Usually I don’t care for degrading stuff usually but thanks to the drug aspect of the bad guys and the situations the scenes were dark but still erotic with Botan enjoying herself against her will and struggling but not winning.
Scenes are varied between torture types, normal positions as Botan loses her mind, and pissing as Botan loses bladder control in every scene. There’s one quick time event scene where Botan clones herself for three men, as she couldn’t retain her sanity if she slept with them. So now she has three men having sex with her three of her and she has to control herself but she’s really bad at it and you need to keep her eyes away from the sex but she keeps looking and my god. It was so silly and nonsense erotic of a scene to me and probably the best moment of the game.
Verdict and Save
I enjoyed this a lot. It’s short, but really enjoyable. The scenes, for whatever reason, are really good to me even with them being dark. Combat is forgettable, which is fine when the point is not to fight. I won’t say it’s for everyone, but this is definitely more enjoyable to me then a lot of Kagura Games lineup.
