Apostle

H Scene Count- 36

Created by Kamichichi, translated by Kagura Games

Length- 8-10 hours

RPG maker game by a company named Kamichichi, basically God Boobies. It contains what you’d expect for character design. It’s also Persona 3-5 inspired, so RPG dungeon crawling with psuedo dating sim elements stapled to it. It’s… alright. And I spent way to long on this.

Story

So a long time ago, monsters invaded. After some big battles, humans won and then monsters vanished. In the present day, you are guy who likes like the lead from Daibanchou. He has a weird dream and then his childhood friend wakes him up. After the usual Japanese school stuff with some sex thrown in, you skip a week to a festival where everyone dies. Except childhood friend has super powered bow and saves you, but then you save her when your perso… I mean your inner power awakens and you get a sword to fight with. Then you faint.

You are woken up to exposition. Childhood friend girl is actually a trainee from a secret worldwide military group fighting the monsters to this day, and now you apparently have awoken to the ability to fight to. Which shouldn’t happen, you get born with the power or don’t have it and you weren’t born with it. Anyway, you join the group once you learn that a few of your friends might actually be alive, having been taken by the monsters. You join group 6 and start going to special school on a island that gets attacked by the monsters a lot. Then a bunch of religious groups show up and demons and drugs and blah blah blah. The plot basically moves when it feels like, just like Persona, so sit back and watch as you see enough to know that bad things are happening but can’t do anything until the game tells you to.

So a few issues I have with the plot. First, they kinda ignore the whole MC is irregular for a lot of the plot. Like it just kinda pops up at random until near the end when it marks him as special. Two, why is your military trained since birth childhood friend not in the the military at the start? She’s not there to watch you from what I can tell, she just lives with her adoptive parents. 3, this has major pacing issues with dungeons galore at some points and then nothing happening for a days on end at others. It likes to tell you that something needs to done done then doesn’t let you do anything for a week or two. Like the writing recognizes it needs to foreshadow, but instead just has you sit back and wait until things are almost fucked before letting you do anything. It’s annoying at times. 4. None of the bad guys during the early segments are given names or faces so when you get to the end and need to fight the 12 apostles of the enemy(of which you fight 7 I think) all but two of them are nameless things that talk for a minute then you kill. It’s very anticlimactic and would have been so easy to fix if the just two or three of them had been given some identifiable trait so the cast could react to them.

A few other things… why does the main character make such a big deal about big boobs? That might sound weird, the girls are massive and he’s a boob guy and it’s porn, but every girl has massive knockers. At some point wouldn’t you just accept that an F-cup is the world’s average and not get excited by every head sized boob on a girl? Another thing, the main cast of girls you have with you just kind of exists. They have date events but other then Satsuki, none of them really matter to the plot and even Satsuki only matters because her main thing is the focus of a single chapter. Not even the main character really has a character arc of any kind that has much to do with the main story. The side girls are where the main actual arcs are, and all of them are optional. Seriously chapter 3 has no real story to it without it’s two side girls. It goes from around 30 minutes to an hour of content just with those girls. As an RPG, it’s character development is really lacking which sucks cause it’s trying to have romance and has basically nothing to work with.

Gameplay

Combat is standard RPG maker affair. Each character gets spells(under ADAM) and techniques (under their weapon names), that they learn off a skill tree in the menu. These skills are purchased with AP, which is gotten from fights just like xp and money. Skills also have the weird use it x number of times and it gets stronger thing. You can ignore this system, it barely affects anything.

Boss fights are notable in the they have way to much HP kind of way. They are designed around the amount of damage you can do at that point in the game aka using the strongest option available, not the one you want to use. Aka, throw every available attack buff, as they all stack, on Konoha and watch her do 4-5 times the damage of your next best character. The only one who competes at all is the Captain aka Kenshin, and that’s only if she crits with her big attack. The only other way to keep up is with grinding or using your biggest TP attacks, that you only get to use 2-3 times in a row before falling back to the low damage ones for the rest of the fight. This isn’t necessarily bad design, it just leads to some boring boss fights.

As for other mechanics that stand out… It’s a Persona like, I guess? You get WP, walk points, that let you do a few things during your days off. These things are affection events for the girls, or having sex with one of the finished girls(while also getting alchemy items). You also can do some sidequests during the free roam but most of those just reward you with more WP, and honestly you get way to much WP just doing a handful of quests. It doesn’t help that until NG+, only one of the six main girls needs her events done as you can only do one of the girls in the first run. So in your run where you are likely to do the most content, most of the WP events are kinda meaningless filler.

So those alchemy items are actually one of the things that annoy me most about the game’s economy. You very early on can find a piece of equipment that gives you Steal, and it turns out the only things you can steal are the alchemy things. At like a 5% success rate. The things also don’t drop commonly at all. Every recipe calls for 15 of the things, sometimes of more then one type. And some sidequests require you to craft them. Either my luck was horrible, or these just aren’t common enough for the system they are designed for. In a way they feel like post game or NG+ content, where you have the stats to steal or have built up enough to actually make stuff. But then you find out the girls give out some of the alchemy items from repeatable sex content and suddenly the system gets this weird feel to it. Like it was designed as a way to make the WP matter, which makes me question why bother with the steal skill at all? The girls are way easier to get the materials out of, save and reloading guarantees you get the ones you want, and there is way too much WP in the game, especially on NG+. It just feels very tacked on or awkward as a system.

As for NG+, it carries over everything, unlocks a harem route/end that barely changes anything, gives you items to kill or dodge all encounters and makes all the dungeons skippable. It also unlocks some super boss bonus dungeon stuff that isn’t worth doing.

H and Other stuff

So this is one of the rare guy focused RPG Maker things with romance endings and actual romance attempts, which you wouldn’t think if you picked a certain option at the start of the game. The game has one rape scene, right at the start. You have to pick where to go early on, and if you pick the vending machines you get a fight with some punks, lose and a girl gets attacked by them. It doesn’t fit the rest of the game at all. It really feels like it’s here as part of an early part of design where this kind of thing was intended to be more common, but they dropped those elements for the Persona style dating sim elements and actual romance pretty quickly, and just added some extra ending stuff for these options at the end of the project as a choices matters kind of thing. If you are here for that kind of content, you picked the wrong game. If you are here for the mostly giant tit romance stuff, just dodge that scene. And also the weird you f*ed gang scene with the three girls later, which also felt kind of uneeded.

Anyway, big tits. Those are the focus. Only two girls don’t have giant knockers, out of around 18~. Each of those 18~ get one scene each, some with two parters, some without though the 6 main heroines usually get 2-4. Each scene will be breast focused in some way, as is only logical when every girl has two more heads attached to their chests. Scenes have sound effects and something like animation(switching between two or three cgs on a timer, some more fluid then others). It’s mostly vanilla stuff and basically every girl is a virgin. Most of the girls also have a pixel art scene that is not in the gallery, which are very short animations of the models having sex. Scenes are around medium length.

The timing between the h scenes is probably my biggest complaint. You start off with about 5 in the first hour and a half, then go about 2-3 hours with none. Then you get 1, then another hour, then 6 or so. Then another two hours before the next set. It’s really not balanced, and you have to know what you are doing to get a decent chunk of these. It’s totally possible to play 5+ hours without any scenes then suddenly get 4 or so in a row.

Verdict

Not woth the investment of time I put into it, but overall decent. There’s not a lot of RPG Maker games where you play as a competent male who has actual consensual sex, so that’s a huge plus for me. Most male leads are either NTR or femdom focused and it’s nice to have something that doesn’t fall into those two camps for once. In exchange though I wish it was more character focused. Like instead of 10 or so sub heroines just the main six with more scenes and story on them. Make the route/ending choice earlier and make the scenes focus more on an actual relationship. As it is, it has the Kamidori weirdness of a guy who is 100% honest telling every other girl he’s in love with them, them dropping most of them at the end.

Combats slow, and I wish the equipment was more interesting. Considering it’s based off of phrases and words, the fact 90% of the gear is just stat buffs is boring. Stories kind of weird to, It was interesting on the first run, but when I think about what actually happened it’s weak. The MC just isn’t able to be an active participant enough to feel like he’s important and a few characters are introduced just for the sake of more boob art and nothing else. The other two teams are basically completely absent at the climax of the game for no given reason. it’s weird.

Anyway, the game’s decent. I just spent to much time on it so all of it’s issues are kind of laser focused for me now. It’s worth at least one run for those interested.

Save for Apostle

Contains- A list inside explains which save does what, but 1 is for bonus dungeon stuff, 2 is for looking at the group bikini cg, 5-11 are for girl endings, and 13-20 are for the pixel art scenes. Also has every replay scene unlocked, of course.

  1. Hi, so I played what reviewer jikorde recommended, took me some time to play the first run.

Firstly, I want to praise that this game got futuristic theme in it, which is cool! Like how you open the menu, and you know it’s not that generic monotonous design rpgm! Hell yeah they put some effort yo! Well, it’s nice change of pace than other rpgm I tell ya.

Second.. by mid chap one, I fully understood why reviewer compared this with Persona. I thought it was an overstatement, but no, it is an easiest comparison to understand ’em. And if I may to add, if you’re a weeb, you can see this as a rpgm adaptation of your generic animeish ecchi harem fanservices of Huge Titties. You know, that typical Jackoftrade mc, stereotype fetish heroines, all mc convenient favorable plot etc etc. I don’t meant it in bad way tho, why? Bcoz you can find this type of game almost easily in other platform, but not in rpgm. So in plus side, it’s nice to play this kind of game in this engine especially for rpgm fans. And in all fairness this game actually pretty decent in a way and well designed for that kind of genre, ‘For a rpgm standard’ I guess lol. Down side is, welp, as you can read the review, you can find some flaws, issues and loopholes in it.

For my issues, mostly are covered in the review. The review did helped me to not expect much from it, but they’re still bugging me nonetheless. Now, for my Personal Issues.. may offend some cultured men.

I’m not fond this kind of game genre (animeish harem etc), you know, the likes of dxd or hxh anime (or other that look alike), I’m not fans of them..
It cringed me, soooo much just in chapter one lmao. Like, “Oh dear, high schooler harem fantasy, this gonna be that kind of stuff huh.” But thank God it’s not that unbearable, or so I hoped, mid to late game kinda letdown my mood lmao. I was betting the mc will get himself some suit like dxd or maybe upgraded sword and shapeshifting into a girl or something, I’m glad I was wrong hahaha. Still, the late game kinda anticlimactic imo.
Anyway, I can’t explain it, but compared to hotspringhero or falllabyrinth, I don’t enjoy this kind of stuff. Maybe cause it’s too cliche? Too much shounen stuff? Idk. There’s one more little issue, I knew what I’m gonna get, But Holy Cow that Hella Huge Knockers bruh! I skipped some h part of the game. Tbf, the h scenes are arousing, I admit it, but The Size distracted my mind to somewhere else rofl. Kamichichi really hold their name haha.

In the end, the gameplay amused me. Well the turnbased combat is easy, pretty funny coming from game filled mostly of it. Thankfully, they offered Hard option for they who seek the combat at the start of every dungeon, but not the late game? Quest got me to dwell in maps and talk with townfolks, ironically, like the review said it wasn’t that satisfying. Dating system that keep me going, I mean, that’s why we’re here hehe. And last the arts are enjoyable too for me, tolerating the tits of course rofl. It’s like your usual rpg game in rpgm with h touch in it, and that’s what I seek.

Tell me if reviewer jikorde/anyone got another recommend, not must have to be similar, maybe just for fun or something interesting to play. Like, should I play Harem fantasy? Sorry if I talked too much hehe, just wanna show how much I enjoyed this game lol.

    • Harem Fantasy might be a better game if you like class systems, but it’s really rough. Of Kamichichi’s three game’s Apostle is the only one I can really recommend to someone generally. Harem Fantasy obviously plays up the harem stuff more then Apostle does, and does nothing with it’s romance that are actually that interesting. I played it for the giant tits, if you don’t like them there’s not much else there. It’s story does go in some weird directions though.

Maybe try SEQUEL blight. The SEQUEL world building is interesting and I love the characters when they interact, though the h might not be to your taste it is all vanilla technically. Demon world Cave Lula Farea is another game I found really interesting, though that’s wolfmaker.
