Renryuu Ascension V. September 1st

H Scene Count- 80~

Created by Naughty Netherpunch

Length- 20+ hours. Probably 30 or so if you don’t look anything up, though the main story is only like 6.

Patreon RPG Maker MV game with some country building and a lot of sandbox running around to get laid. Because you are the king. Or playing as him at least.

Story

Ryen is a draconic, or a demi human dragon. After a blowjob from fellow student of a military training… thing, they go do basic training. The next day they leave the school for some self improvement and suddenly they find the new king being assassinated. After killing the assassins who were actually quite weak, Ryen picks up the royal seal and another squad of guards comes up. Turns out the king guy was the last of the line, and the only way he had to prove his lineage was the very thing Ryen is holding. So Ryen claims his “birthright” and goes on to become king of Central, the middle kingdom of four in this world.

The kingdom is kinda shit right now though. Turns out the last king lasted a bit to long and kinda had something like dementia. So he wasted a lot of money and threw away good talent for really no reason and now the kingdom is a wreck. Good thing though, Ryen’s job is to sleep with a lot of women to keep the royal line going and no one will complain. Ryen turns out to be a bit of a hands on king and goes around just doing things and getting laid basically every time he does things which he isn’t going to complain about because he barely talks. Ryen is the stoic type. He says basically nothing until prompted and just kind goes with the flow, only saying or doing stuff in the interest of sex or if a companion wants it done or if it goes against his like three main dislikes. He gets… boring. The companions help a lot since they chime in constantly though.

So at this point the game opens up to something of a sandbox. You can go to almost everywhere and do a lot in any order. It’s very overwhelming, though really you want to do the main quest you are given as it unlocks the only locked country and gets you some good party members and a few other important things. That main story? People trying to revive the titan race to control the world. Or something. It took a long time for me to get there and really it didn’t feel that much more important then a lot of the other plotlines.

Gameplay

Turn based RPG, but with a speed mechanic instead of selecting orders then everyone goes. It’s not rare for some characters to get 2 or 3 turns to another, or for the boss’ turn order to just suddenly be right before your healers. Outside of that, the combat has some bells and whistles but its mostly the standard stuff. Difficulty is a mess because of how non linear the game is, though I beat it fighting as few enemies as I could so you shouldn’t have to grind.

Before moving on to the other gameplay this has, I want to complain about Ryen as a fighter for a sec. He’s forced into the party at all times, and is mostly pointless. He gets four skills near the start, two change his attack types, a group fire attack, and a lower attack of the enemy skill. You fight a lot of fire types or related in this, and so while Ryen can take hits from them he can’t do much with his skill set. He’s not really a good attacker, but his support options are horrible. He can equip two weapons but the damage isn’t impressive at all. You can fix this to some degree as you advance, but for a character you are stuck with he’s not useful for a lot of the game. I’d bench him if I could in anything else.

Moving on though, you are a king. This means not only do you do things on the ground, but you also have infrastructure and troops to control. There is a country map where you can build things and move troops to fight a small number of specific battles in a Fire Emblem with Advance Wars style troops way. You can skip these easily, but they are a very nice change of pace from the rest of the game. As for building up the nation, it’s overwhelming at the start. Once you start rolling in money from taxes you’ll learn a lot in this system doesn’t mean much yet. The laboratory, the farm, and the workshops are the only buildings that really matter right now. The lab because it lets you build other things and learn a few character skills, the farm for monster girl parts and scenes, and the workshop for a gun focused merchant. There’s a lot of potential here, but little does anything just yet.

Want to mention pregnancy while I’m here. Ryen can impregnate any girl he can have sex with, and for now this does nothing. In the future there will be a continuation of the game were every girl you have made carry Ryen’s kid gives birth and you can meet them and they’ll probably play roles in side quests or optional help in the main quest. They can’t be plot important since Ryen never actually has to have sex with anyone that I’m aware of in the main quest. For now though it’s just a stat you can check. You can even make girls pregnent in the replay room, just in case you only got 1 chance and failed the random roll.

H and Other stuff

It got kinda boring. The writing for sex is stiff. And almost every girl is a virgin with jiggly boobs, and Ryen makes sure to note the same things a lot. There’s very few scenes that are legitimately different and really only the main companions scenes are written well. They also are the only ones with animation in them, and its decent. The rest of the one note girls Ryen sleeps with after helping for a bit though? Boring. The monster girl farms you can make to sleep with the monster girls are a bit different, usually having some variety or flavor, but those make up a small amount. There are a small number of prison forceful scenes, but they are very rare. There is some good stuff in the game, but a lot of it just… buries the few gems it has.

Verdict

A lot of content with a promise for a lot more. It has good moments and some comedy, though it could honestly use some work in making the h scenes more quality instead of just increasing the quantity. The project is three years old at least as of this post, so I expect another three+ years before it finished. Will probably be a gem by the time it finishes. For now, it’s a decent time sink.

New to version September 1st

I wish more game named their updates by date. Way easier to track.

Anyway, out of the 6 or so updates I skipped, only 4 added new content. Te other two were fixed/updates to the war system and the skill system, so any complaints I had about those are currently in the I have no idea how they play camp. The new content is mostly filler side quest stuff, with only one or two sidequests really feeling like it’ll mean anything later on. And of course, each a bunch of new h scenes that feel just very similar to the old ones.

Save for Renryuu Ascension V. September 1st

Contains- All scenes unlocked, including a good and evil one since saves are tied to the games current state. Currently two girls have scenes you can only unlock on good or evil versions and you cannot have both sets in the gallery. So two saves, both the same in every way except for those two girls scene unlocks.
