Sequel Colony

H Scene Count- 70~

Created by Leaf Geometry, translated by sub-par

Length- 15-20 hours

This is a sequel to a game called sequel… I think. It is not a sequel to colony. Don’t ask questions, it doesn’t make sense.

RPG Maker VXAce turn based rpg. You play as a guy who doesn’t really matter, as four girls learn things about the world. It’s mostly a mystery at heart.

Story

So Auris is a knight of a country sent to investigate Schisma. It is an island once owned by her kingdom(kinda) but do to the Queen of Pests curse, everyone there got turned into something not human. Auris wants to learn if the Queen is still here and if there is a way to cure the pest turning process. She did have a group of knights but she soon discovers them all dead, save for a succubus nun that had went along on the journey. These two then meet a blind women in a field of flowers as they continue their investigation. It takes a while but they do begin to learn things that don’t match up with the reality they were taught. Multiple times. Oh, and you basically watch this on the sideline as a guy in world where mana is running out, and men with it. You kind of act as the team control/ craftsman of the group. There’s a lot of background stuff like that.

Going any further into the plot ruins things and since that feeling of learning is probably the second best part of the game, I’m not going to say anything more. The best part of the game though is the banter dialogue. There’s a bunch of floating text boxes in the world that trigger the party to just banter about things in the area and its nice. There’s just something about how the characters talk in this that is charming and simple. The banter is just fun and helps keep the early parts of the game interesting while you wait for the actual plot to start unraveling.

If I had to make a comparison with another title I’ve played, I’d say this reminds me of Ys. The main character is a mute who travels around, learning about the world country by country as the player does. Everywhere has its secrets for him to discover with his new harem. Except in this, you actually sleep with the girls. The second game only makes vague references to the previous title, so playing out of order is mostly fine.

Gameplay

Standard turn based for the most part. There’s some crafting(basically the real job of the male), side quests, and mostly the usual RPG fair. The world is built like Dark Souls where everything is connected and traveling through without the fast travel system doesn’t actually take that long once all the random gates are opened and random boulders moved. It makes the island feel big but once you get everything unlocked you realize it’s actually pretty small, with most areas being only two or three screens from a fast travel point and the entire world can be traveled in like two minutes.

The real standout for this game is the skill learning system. Each of the four characters get three skill trees. An offensive one, a defensive/support one, and a passive tree that they all get. This means every character can be built in a few different ways and respecing is easy since money isn’t really used for anything else. That’s the high point of the game system. So once you get a majority of your leveling done…

The game drags near the end. Your leveling is mostly done, equipment growth is set, and areas are getting longer with more trash mobs(common enemies are never hard, but bosses range from easy to roadblock). The banter with the party is mostly serious, so the fun is mostly gone. Then the post game happens(which felt like it belonged in its own game really). The story gets some growth and you get more gear, but the combat doesn’t change. I still used the same 3 skills in every normal fight. This is why the game took me like a month to finish. I got really bored at the end. The suddenly roadblock end bosses didn’t help. Thankfully the story helped the game end on a decent note, cause the gameplay didn’t.

H and Other stuff

The male lead is into being dominated, so that is the focus fetish here. That and anuses drawn in a lot of detail to the point that they don’t belong on the more simple, anime bodies they were put on. Really the sex stuff in general feels off artwise to the rest of the game’s appearance. I do feel obligated to mention the male you can sleep with, who is easily skippable. He pretends to be one of the girls, kind of.

Anyway, each heroine gets 10 scenes with a few sub heroines or themed sets getting 6. Generally it’s half of the set is unique cgs while the other half recycle with a new gimmick like a sex toy or going farther then before. There is about 5 total scenes where the male is in charge, and he’s drugged out of his mind in 3 of those. Most of the time the girls are going at him until he passes out. Writing wise it got a bit old, probably because it’s not my fetish, and so I got a bit sick of the scenes. The good character writing does for the most part reflect in the porn, though a few characters do 180’s when the guys dick is up for wanking.

The writing for the scenes is technically third person, though sometimes the narration is stating something that the heroines respond to. This is actually something the whole game does. The protag never actually speaks in dialogue, but instead you get narration telling you what he said, or narration that is directly responded to. It’s weird.

There is some slight animation in the scenes, with shaking the image to give off a sense of motion and playing sounds to try to give a stronger impact to the whole thing. It works sometimes. It also slows the pacing of the scenes down since no textboxes can show up during the shaking. Makes skipping through what I didn’t like a bit harder.

Overall, the sex stands out for being about domination, but with the girls actually liking the guy and enjoying themselves. The guy is even stated to prefer it and admits as much to himself. Which is really rare for female domination focused games.

Verdict

Fun characters, writing the I personally really liked, and a fairly interesting world. H scenes weren’t really my type but it is nice to see characters retain traits into scenes instead of becoming generic girl x moaning on dick. I’m sure people who like some depth to the combat system could enjoy this game’s skill system(hell I’ve seen people praise Mary Skelter’s gameplay and that game has the only 3 skills really matter problem way worse then this). For me, I’m interest in the 1st game of the series now, but I don’t think I could ever replay this. It’s a good t
