H Scene Count- 45 simple animations
Created by Mara Studio
Length- 2-3 hours for a single run
Souls like game, short. Animated only h scenes with three different characters to play as, all with no personality. One guy or two girls are the options. That’s really the selling point.
Story
Something about the village having a big reward for some cave that needs exploring. A religious order is also around to help out. You just kind of show up and go in to get some money. There is some allusions to some past big city and such but I didn’t notice enough clues to really get any idea. Basically the souls style read things story that I tend to not be great at following. Eventually you kill four big name bosses and using them can fight the big boss and save, I think, the world.
Gameplay
Play with a controller, the keyboard setup is terrible.
It’s trying to be an action RPG just like souls. You even have a back dash, a guard button, and some skills you can learn that use weighted stats to get stronger. In actual play, I just stood there and swung, heal spammed(as that pauses the game) anytime I was in danger, and let the minions you get handle most normal enemies.
The first skill you get is probably the only kind of cool thing the game has. Soul Contract lets you trade some currency to recruit a dead enemy into your party, with two being the max at one time but you can recruit almost the entire enemy roster. They even level up as you get currency if they are in the team and alive when you do. Since you can recruit bosses, as soon as you start getting these setup the game’s difficulty falls apart.
The actual game is bleh though. Movement feels awkward and the pausing for items and poor PC controls ruined a lot of what there is here. It ends up mostly being a dungeon crawler with some metriodvania style rub items on things to see if it opens up the next path. It doesn’t really have puzzles other then insert item into place.
H and Other stuff
If playing as the guy, it’s a mix of vanilla and assault. If playing as the girls, it’s all monsters having their fun after you lose to them. Spiders, werewolves, headless zombies. It’s a pretty random set of enemies that have animations that you have to lose to to get the 2 girls sets of scenes.
The guy just recruits and helps out, I think. I ended up only doing a girl A run then cheating the gallery with a built in code due to having no idea how I missed so many scenes for the girl, only to realize I had to lose to a bunch of random normal enemies. So I think the guy gets his via sidequests, soul contract recruitment and just having his way with the girls. He has way more then either girl, might have more then them combined.
It’s all simple animations. Some get a bit of a larger image and take up most of the screen compared to a majority of them just having the involved at their normal sizes in their animation loop. Couple of cgs to, though most of those are either SFW or just generic lose cgs.
Verdict
Poor, sadly. I can see some effort but the actual execution in basically everything is lacking. No real story, what should be hard combat becomes a joke fairly quickly, and I am not personally fond of pure animation scenes. Apparently they resued a lot of this for a turn based version, might check that out at some point and see if they did that better.
Save for Iris Covenant -To the Depths of the Earth-
Contains-Gallery fully unlock.
It looked pretty good, but by your description, it sounds like standard-fare side-scrolling Unity h-game?
(also are we ignoring the fact that the character design is ripped off from Fire Emblem and potentially other series)
Honestly, anime characters tend to look so similar my brain sometimes skips even thinking if something is a ripoff, an homage, or whatever.
I can see a resemblance. I just can’t tell how on purpose that resemblance is.
Below standard if anything. It’s both frustrating to play and way to easy.
