Demon Roots next week, this this week since it’s newer. Western made breakout style game, fairly short. Made by Shady Corner Games.

Story

A new guy shows up to work at this mechanic place and the staff aren’t exactly chaste. First day is some skin, second day is some foreplay, third day is catching them up to some naughty stuff and days 4 is score. And that’s just the first beauty!

Sadly I’m not good enough(or spending time) on doing some puns for the above like the actual games writing does. It does end by setting up these girls with Shady Lewd Cart, the producer/developers first game. Silvi, the first girl here, is the shop owner of that racing game.

Gameplay

It’s breakout, but with some odd choices. Your gameplay screen takes up only the right side of the screen and so it feels cramped, you are using a wrench and not a ball which does seem to mess with the bouncing, there are no dropped power ups though a few field things do mimic the standard more balls or faster/slower. Each map also has nuts, a spot you need to hit a couple times to get a point and these are what unlock the cg gallery and you need 36 of them to play all the levels. 50 per girl to get all cgs, tough beating a level is needed to repeat h scenes.

Each girl has 4 stage sets, usually 3 levels each you need to beat to get to the next day. After beating them all you unlock challenge mode, which is 4/5/6 at once but beating these gives you the codes you can use to make the game a bit easier(and unlocks the bonus cgs). These are-

HELPME- trades current nuts for full lives once per level

Magnet- Lets you draw the wrench/ball back to the bounce pad. Uses a gauge at the bottom and used via z or space bar.

There’s also DRESS which just changes their outfits as the girl sits on the left side of the screen where they moan as you play.

Now I want to bring up Lock n Lewd, a thing that a decent number of Shady Games games have in them. It’s basically an ownership bonus, though really it’s just checking if you’ve played the other game the one you are playing is checking for. So in this case, if you own Marble Maid, you get a fourth set of stages and scenes in Under the Hood featuring the maid from that game with a slight change in physics of the ball and the nuts you were going for for points change to rabbits that move around. You can think of it either a loyalty bonus or another game as dlc.

Now as a concept I do like this kind of stuff. In practice it can suck, as in this case you are locked out of 1/4 of the game unless you buy another 10 dollar game. If you are playing their library as it comes out, it’s a nifty bonus of seeing old characters and nods to other things while getting more content. For me, it’s a chain of games I have to play to actually 100% everything. In this case it’s kind of minor, it’s one other game. Shady Lewd Kart connects to like half the library of Shady Games. Next year is going to be a lot of their stuff as I go through and do Lock n Lewd game by game.

I do wish more games did old game bonuses though, or hell even save imports. Nowadays Trails and Atelier are the only modern games that bother with save bonuses. Like I need to go buy Atelier Sophie 2 before I start Ryza 3 so I have all the non dlc content in Ryza 3. While manipulative, I do prefer this over loot boxes, gachas, or actual dlc because the stuff is already in the game. It also makes saves important, which makes me happy.

H and Other stuff

So each girl’s standing art is drawn by the same artist, but not their cgs. Silvi, the first girl, is done by the standing artist and it’s that art that made me want to play this in the first place. The sister’s artist is just so different I have no words, and the Mom’s at least tries to be in the same style.

So the cg gallery is cg only, to play the lewd scenes you have to beat the levels again which is a choice I don’t like, but whatever. Generally each girl gets one or two exposure scenes, a foreplay, and then sex. There’s some English voiced lines and moaning thrown in. Sadly the milf does not use her tits, only the first daughter gives a titfuck.

Lock n Lewd adds a maid, giving the game it’s first white girl. She is generally the same content wise as the others, but her 3rd and 4th cg scenes are both from her last stage.

Verdict

It was alright. I was playing a more traditional breakout game on the side for a few months now, and it makes this look average. Having the cg gallery not replay scenes sucks, and the scenes themselves are okay.

For the price it’s fine.
