[VN]Sakuranomori Dreamers, My Issues

So I finished reading the weird action trhiller from moonstone, the company that brought us Princess Evangile and Lunatics. Aka, an action thriller from a generic moege company. And boy, does it have issues. Honestly, reading it the story is alright, I have no major issues with the core ideas. The surrounding details are horrible though. Enough that I wanted to complain a bit, if only to cement the thoughts.

In order, I’m going to talk about how Mahoro’s character could be removed without hurting anything, how most of the routes are pointless, and finally why the timing of everything is just bad. Or more like, makes no sense.

[Ecchi] Senran Kagura Series

Ah, Senran Kagura. The poster child of fanservice games for like ten years, created simply because some Japanese man looked at the 3DS and decided 3D boobs should be a thing.

This series is well known for it’s overly busty ninja girls who shred their clothes off in battle. It’s also a decent character comedy with some drama thrown in, but most people ignore that for the T&A the games are full of, which is mostly done via the kinda bad character models in the gameplay as the stories and cgs don’t really aim to titilate for the most part. Of course, anyone playing this series is there for the titillation at least for some part. Which the game’s designers’ know full well, and is likely the reason the next game in the series will be the last because Sony.

This post will go through the entire series, with the games listed in reverse order. So newest release first. I’ll be playing basically everything, including Re;Burst and Burst because Re;Burst actually lessens the fanservice for Burst a lot more then I expected. I basically want to see every unique in game thing Senran has to offer that isn’t mobile exclusive.

At this point, only Burst, Burst Renewel, and Deep Crimson are left.

[Ecchi]Atelier Ryza

Ahh, the thigh game. Or ass. One of the two, depends on which way Ryza is turned.

atelier ryza 2

She is the reason this is the best selling game in the franchise.

Anyway, Atelier Ryza is the highest selling Atelier game, a series focused on alchemy with frequent shoujo ai undertones. I have played a grand total of three games in the series, Atelier Iris 2, 3, and Mana Khemia. I never touched a PS3 or PS4 era one until Ryza. Why? Because the game’s don’t really offer anything.

The romance is shipping at best, with character endings being “here’s a potential romance you’ll never see” for a vast majority of them. Fanservice was none existent as the series characters were mostly very young girls that were flat as a board. Cute was the focus. The series was about making stuff and advancing the life of the main alchemist and that was it. Which to me, sounds boring. Ryza kinda changed that with the designs of Lila and of course, Ryza.
