Rance 4.1+2 -Save the Medicine Plant!- & -Angel Army-

H-Scene Count- 4.1- 6   4.2- 10

Created by Alice-Soft, translated by Rance Translations

Length- 4.1- 2-3 hours    4.2- 3-4 hours

An adventurer/RPG game starring Rance as he goes on a random job to earn money since he ran out. These two games make one story that is short, with 4.2 picking off right where 4.1 ends.

Story

Rance ran out of money, so he goes to take a job for the Happiness Pharmaceutical, which has their production factory being attacked by monsters that came from a dungeon that spawned below the factory. Rance leaves his slave Sill behind, and instead travels with his very stupid artificial human, Athena 2.0.

Gameplay

The game plays like an old adventurer game, where you get a bunch of misc. options of what to do and where to go, and instead of fighting the focus is on solving simple puzzles. You use items on certain things, examine the environment, and talk to characters to find stuff out. It’s fairly simple and neither game really has a massively hard puzzle as long as you read what is said.

The combat is a fairly simple turn based system. You only control Rance, and can have up to 3 others in your party. Everyone acts when they have enough power, which dictates your actions. Rance can do nothing, attack(10 power), use an item(14), summon Feliss his demon minion(10), or Rance Attack for big damage(30). You can save up and do big damage, but usually just keep attacking is a better idea. You also have two different health totals for each character. Hp and stamina. Stamina is more like traditional health, you get hit and it goes down. Hp is some balls above your stamina, and if you run out you die which is game over. This is more an issue that you can’t let party members kill certain boss enemies or the game ends, so you attack them last since once someone run out of stamina all damage goes straight to Hp. Hp is also hard to heal, with only one item that is rare having that effect.

Xp is earned at the end of fights, and you won’t really feel a difference in character levels. You start out strong enough to beat the games, so levels just make it easier. The only difference in the games is that 4.2 has more fights, more bosses, and you can’t summon the demon since you have a full party. They play the same otherwise.

 H Scenes and other stuff

H is old school art(non-anime? Old school vn? Not sure what to call it). Which could be a turn off for some. The scenes also use a choice system where you do different things to the girl that raises Rance’s arousal, a percentage counter on the side. Once it hits 100% you can end a scene. The scenes are overall short and not of a great variety or quality. Better then the first Rance games though.  Most of the scenes are rape through various means.

These are probably the Rance games I could say are the least worth playing. They don’t add much to the lore or story or characters, and are not very fun overall. They can be funny, and let you understand some future inside jokes but are not very enjoyable as games. You just don’t have enough control in combat for me to say its fun.

Due to how the games have to be played, on an emulator software, the best I could do for saves ended up being very big and have an annoying install. On the bright side, you don’t have to download the games since the saves are inseparable from the games. The games themselves are freeware so this solution is not piracy, the games are free anyway.

Save contains cgs and h scene galleries unlocked and full.

  1. Sorry, had to edit this. I’m not allowing piracy or even links to piracy style sites do to how laws are shaping up. Sorry if this seems a bit forceful. Do note that if it was just Rance 1-4 it would be fine, those are freeware. But no links to the others. I don’t want my blog shut down for that kind of stuff.
