H-Scene Count- 30
Created by Anagura and sold on Mangagamer
Length- 3-5 hours
Ecchi Mery is the first crowdfunded h game translation to actually be released. It’s an RPG maker VXAce game where you play as Mery and Mary, a magic noble girl and her ninja maid.
Disclaimer: I gave to the crowdfunder and so my opinion of the game may be effected by this fact.
Story
The game starts with Mery(the blonde) having a pervy dream only to be awoken by Mary(the maid). They are on a boat and are about to arrive to Cipangu(Japan in Portuguese). We learn from some dialogue that they have come here to obtain a magic relice from the place known as the Cosmic Shrine. They need this artifact in order for Mery to graduate from her school.
They arrive in a town next to the shrine and learn that the shrine has been destroyed but a cave was left in its place. The treasure they are looking for is said to be at the bottom of this cave and so they set off. But they are not the only people hunting the treasure as they meet another group immediately upon entering.
This group is killing off other hunters and goes to kill Mery and Mary. Mery attacks with magic only to learn non Shinto magic is useless, they lose the fight and Mery is raped, losing her virginity. They are then left there where Mary takes Mery to the nearby inn to recover. Two weeks later, Mery decides to take on the challenge off the shrine again and the game starts properly.
From that point on there’s no real story, just a few random events after bosses to give the game more h scenes. The plot is simple and I have no issues with it, other then how the player is told many times that thieves and hunters come to the shrine when you only meet about 8~ people in it. The only other thing I have to say about story I’ll save for the h-scenes since it has to do with Mery and her non rape scenes in the game.
Gameplay
Game wise this game is a simple RPG, with the only twist being how stats work. In this game, you only level up twice. Most of your stat points don’t come from those levels either, they com from assigning stat points. Every fight gives you some points and in a house in town is a statue that lets you assign points to any of your stats for either character. You can spend and despend points at your leisure, which lets you adapt to the different enemy types and grow the characters differently to an extent. As for learning skills, well you buy those from specific shops in town and from sex scenes with a specific NPC.
Combat wise the game is standard RPG fair, with a little flair to the how the battles look. Instead of being some odd firstperson look at the monsters or a line vs a line like in old Final Fantasy games, this game tries to copy Chrono Trigger’s style. Your characters stand on the screen during combat and move to enemies to attack and animations play out on their sprites. This doesn’t do anything to how combat plays out, but its a nice touch for some uniqueness in the game. Oh, and like in Chrono Trigger you see monsters on the screen at all times. Unlike CT, these guys will chase you if they see you and try to fight, and by running you increase the range at which they react to you.
As for game difficulty, its easy for the most part. Most fights will end in one or two turns, but if the enemy hits you you will get hurt by it, and I mean like 1/4 of your health. This level of damage keeps up for most of the game and is why bosses actually feel dangerous, they can survive your hits long enough to actually hit you back. I like this though as it means most fights are quick and then I can get to the next one and if I get hit I can’t just ignore it completely. It also makes bosses feel different then basic encounters by them being the most threatening thing instead of just taking the longest to kill.
The game also has an alchemy system of sorts, which is where all your non starting gear and better items will come from. There’s not that much to make, but the game is short so I won’t complain. One thing to note is drops are completely random(every enemy drops something, but what is not limited to an enemy type), so you might not get what you need to get better gear.
The last thing I will point out is an option in the menu screen. Formation is an option, and an odd one for an RPG Maker game with only two characters. And no, who’s in front doesn’t change who gets attacked more or damage totals, it changes which h scene you get when you lose. Every ten floors and each boss have their own lose scenes, which differ depending on who’s in front. This took me a while to figure out, so figured I would point it out.
H Scenes and Other Assets
This game’s scenes focus on either rape or kinda odd casual flings. This has to do with Mery and the story, but after getting raped and coming to terms with it, Mery just sort of accepts doing whatever sexual act she needs to do when asked. Blowing the guard to a mansion because you want in? Yes. Demon sex for new powers? Of course. The reason this feels odd is how Mery acts, she’s a shy girl who gets easily embarrassed so having her casually doing sexual deeds feels a bit odd most of the times. On the other hand Mary is an experienced ninja maid who takes control in her scenes, when not getting raped. The actual scene variety is things like prostitution in a brothel, rape with humans and monsters, yuri/lesbian acts, and some odd vanilla stuff as mentioned above. Actual scene length is fairly short, and the art looks simple. Characters lack detail and look very basic.
Art wise the game uses a lot of stuff from the Japan dlc for RPGMaker with of course the main characters and a few monsters having unique art(with two special monsters being added from the indiegogo campaign both of which have psuedo sprite h scenes). The music feel different from most other RPG Maker games, but it might be dlc as well. The only thing other then art that is unique is that Mery and Mary are voiced in h scenes. And by that I mean fully voiced lines, not just sound effects or random lines being voiced.
Final Verdict and Save
I overall enjoyed most of my time with this game. While near the end I got bored with the 30 floor dungeon’s basic design, I enjoyed all the small elements that came together in the other areas. I wouldn’t call it a great game(and definitely a bad fapping game), but competent and can be fun for a few hours.
Save contains end game save in gallery room. Characters have best gear and you can rebeat the game as you please.
