New localisation group, Kagura Games brought this RPG Maker MV game over. From what I can tell they are trying to be a good Sakuragamer, aka good translations at a reasonable price. This is their first product and it’s a thing. It is a very standard corruption rpg with I guess bigger boobs then normal.
Story
Makina is an asshole, but also a famous adventurer. She goes to a new city with some ruins because that’s her job I guess. She gets involved with some other girls that she treats as tools and signs up to help deal with the local noble so she can dungeon delve. It’s very simple and other then the fells like a side story bit with the noble around the middle of the game, bland as hell.
My biggest gripe is the stupid friendship ending that shows that Makina isn’t as much of an asshole as she was when she got to the town, but this happens for no reason. There is no event that should have led to her becoming a better person, and no getting taken advantage of wouldn’t make her treat others better. Especially because you don’t need to get taken advantage of. She just treats others better because 40 floors of dungeoning by yourself does that I guess.
Gameplay
Bog standard turn based combat on the stupid easy side. The game throws healing items at you and there’s a shop on the first floor of the dungeon where you can buy levels for cheap. Even without that the games a joke. The biggest pain is the support girls who show up all the time at boss battles and don’t do anything. They are right their engaging the boss with you in the cutscene but in battle its a solo show. It makes me wish the girls had nothing to do with combat if they aren’t going to be used for it.
One of my issues is that money serves no purpose. You work at the brothel near the end of the game, but by that point you don’t need money. There’s no better weapons you can buy and you don’t need healing items. The best buyable things are already at a 50% or more discount and are easily affordable if you are taking the sex is the solution path through things. Even without that by the time you can brothel you have found better things in the dungeon then you can buy. Money serves no purpose. If you didn’t need to sleep at the inn to advance sex scenes I would have never spent a gold after the first 30 minutes of play.
H and Other stuff
It has variety. The main theme is corruption, but I feel Makina herself gets the worse of that, as in it doesn’t feel like she gets corrupted so much as she just accepts sex more readily. She already enjoys it at the start and she orgasm in every scene so it really doesn’t feel like she is getting made into more of a pervert or losing her pride. The other girls though get put through the wringer. Momo goes from virgin to prostitute. Celia goes from warrior to actively searching for monsters for sex. The guild leader gets hypnotized into a sex slave. They all have proper corruption paths, and probably because they are linear paths they make for actual corruption stories unlike Makina’s.
Anyway, variety. Tentacle, enema, prostitution, gangbang, rape, lots of anal, big boobs, threesomes, pregnancy sex(usually vanilla-ish), weird kinda romance routes, S&M, and some other stuff. It has variety, though a lot of scenes felt short. Some were fine, some were short. I skipped a number of them though so it might have been that.
Verdict and Save
Fallen is bland. It feels like it focused on quality of life things to make getting to porn easy but forgot to make an interesting game to surround the porn in. I will admit the art is good and the dungeon was decently designed, but everything else fell really flat for me. A big part of that was going from Desecration of Wings, a great proper RPG, to this which was essentially just masturbation fodder. Before release, I saw a couple people state this was their number one h game of 2017 and having played it, was 2017 that bad? Boring? Empty? Or are their tastes just so alien to me that they don’t make sense at all? Also this was supposedly with expanded content, but from what I’m guessing that expanded content is just random civilians having sex with you. So a couple of extra scenes that don’t fix a mind numbing game. Great first product.
So a bit on Kagura Games and localization. Man these companies are popping up like crazy recently. I’m glad someone is trying to be a good Sakuragamer group, but I’m worried that the only products they will bring over will be ones like this. Corruption RPGs. Games with little appeal to me. I’ll play their stuff so long as they release with Mangagamer(good on them for using existing stores instead of trying to create yet another one. There’s too many), but I worry I’ll never give a game they release a good write up. I hope they do branch out a bit and go for anything on Dlsite that’s good, but I have a feeling its the corruption route of them. Which means even more of the already most common genre for gameplay h games in the west. yay.
To be fair on Fallen, I probably wouldn’t be so negative about it if I hadn’t just played Desecration and didn’t have two other nukiges to play if I feel like it. The thing is though, is that other then the other girl scenes, everything in Fallen I’ve seen somewhere else so nothing really sticks to me as interesting. Maybe for some people this is something like a greatest hits of corruption stuff or something like that. For me and I would guess your average RPG player, this is soulless. And that’s worst then bad. Bad is memorable. Soulless is empty and forgettable.
Save has all scenes unlocked and all the town ones should be good to go too. Best gear if that matters to anyone.
