H Scene Count-6 for now, once updated 7
Created by Secret Labo
Length-3-5 hours
Plants vs Zombies, but with huge tittied anime girls and yokai instead of plants. It’s apparently in early access, which I wasn’t aware of when I started it. I’ll just update the save when it finishes.
Story
Guy finds his grandpa’s old demon book. It… possesses him? His neighbor/childhood friend comes in and is turned into/outed as a yokai. Then I guess Cardcaptor Sakura happens. Basically hunt down the pages that went missing with childhood friend yokai while gathering other yokai.
It’s told in a cute comic/manga format. So while some of the info is a bit… hard to specify, it is cute what little there is.
Gameplay
Plants vs Zombies. That’s the basic idea. You have a grid and are defending the left side from the approaching waves. Yokais here rather then zombies. As you kill enemies you get more currency to summon/upgrade your units. Survive 3-5 waves and win the stage.
At the start of a fight you choose up to 6 unit types to bring. You can bring only 1 if you want, it’s totally possible to win a few stages that way. Bringing more then 3 gives you a discount on unit upgrades, which will matter.
So on the bottom left is the mechanic I don’t think is in PvZ, other then the affection stuff. You get three random stat cards for your chosen units, which you can spend currency on to up that stat up to x amount of times. The first one in each wave is free, purchase costs go up as you buy more. This leads to the core playstyle of throwing down a few lines of units then buying upgrades, replacing the few units you lose as needed. With good placement you really don’t need to do much.
This mostly has to do with how strong the units are, and how few there are. Only 3 can be frontliners. 4 ranged attackers. 5~ trap units. Plus you kind of want to use the actual female units who get h scenes and affection bonuses.
There’s a few reason the female units are better then the rest. Affection bonuses of course, though they are small. 1% to 1 stat and 2% to 2 stats per level, caps at level ten when I played it. That’s the smallest thing actually. In battle one of the upgrade card is evolution, which turns the animal like form the female yokai into there cute girl forms. This is a large stat up and for some of them, extra attacks or effects. Then you can turn one of those girls into the third stage, which ups their stats more and gives them their ultimate, which is used with another currency that really only is used for ultimates and getting the third evolution.
Then there is the buyable talents. Each unit has 3 buyable upgrades from the main menu using yen from from fights. The female units have 4. They basically get another middle tier upgrade you can get. So I ended upp using all my slots on the female units with sex scenes rather then bothering with the rest. Also you buy the rest of the units with yen, the girls are all story unlocks. You know what else you use money on? Food. To cook with to get more affection.
So basically, the game ends up leaning heavily on using the female units. You can not, the traps are great and the literal cube is the best wall in the game, probably the only thing that can take boss hits. It’s just not worth using to me.
H and Other stuff
So each of the girls get a full video. It consists of voice acting and a moving camera over around 4-5 animation loops. Most of the girls get at least two sex acts. You can also just see the animation loops instead of the video.
Verdict
It’s not bad as a game, though I think it needed more enemies that needed special counters. Or maybe just more units? I was basically able to build the same line each mission and win with little need for variance. Boss fights were just replacing units as they died and maybe throwing out a special every once in a while. Having watched end game PvZ’s, that game looked a bit more chaotic at the end.
Of course, hard mode and apparently more is coming so that might fix the issue. Having more female units will help the variety too. I intend to play that as soon as I find out it’s been added. No date yet though.
H isn’t for me, but I’m sure some people would love the video format as it’s hands free.
Update Stuff- Added another girl for Halloween and an event. I was not expecting live service stuff, no idea when I’ll nope out of this. A skin for the protag and some new power options for the bottom right were rewards from the event, so I got those as well.
Save for Yokai Art
Contains- All h scenes unlocked, all talents purchased for all gettable units. Should be good for jumping into hard mode once that comes out.
Didn’t bother maxing affection scores for now, as I’d rather wait until there’s more game.
