So with all the game mid year game shows mostly over, and the blogs anniversary about to hit, I figured I’d do a general update post on things and what the rest of the year looks like.
Let’s start with the general announcement side of things from all those game shows. Over 100 games have been announced or shown in the last few weeks, and I care about like 4 of them. Dragon’s Dogma 2 might be good enough to cover here if it keeps the SF6 character creator and has the lingerie slot the original game had. Super Mario RPG is a nostalgia drug for me that I will make time for. And Mugen Souls Z is coming in September. Oh and Cyperpunk’s final update might finally nudge that into being played before the end of the year. Nothing else stood out, at least from the main shows.
Anime Expo had a few nice things, like Mangagamer announcing Ixeal, the third Beat game from AliceSoft. There were a few other decent things to note that I might read, but honestly Vns have been hard to get into this year. I’ve read like half of one in total that wasn’t for the October ecchi VN month thing I’m doing. So yeah a few nice things but not much hype for my kind of gaming from all these game shows. I’ll likely do an opinion thing on the Fable “design” thing and really my feelings on the uglyfication of fictional characters in general later.
Oh, and a Konosuba VN is coming out in English. Those tend to be cosplay focused so might end up here. Tsukihime remake was also officially English announced, not sure how exited I am with that. While I do play FGO I’ve been kind of bleh on the rest of the franchise. I intend to play Samurai Remnant if Musashi gets something other then totally covered up as an outfit.
As for personal plans and projects-
First, Dungeon Travelers 2-2 is a huge game that is dumb long. Easily 80+ to beat and another 40 to 100%. I’m at like the middle dungeon or so just about to get the last recruitable character. It’s… a long ways off. Which throws everything else out of whack, and I’m not sure if I want to keep playing. It’s a slog. I’ve seen people swear the Dungeon Traveler games are great but man, they are just too long. I’m probably going to keep this on the back burner, just plucking away at it as I feel like it.
Senran Kagura Burst is a way more grindy game then the rest of the series, with only grinding online medals in Peach Beach being comparable. Almost done with the first side of the game, though cleanup for that will take who knows how long. It should be done by the end of the year, thankfully I actually enjoy the combat so how grindy it is isn’t further killing my motivation.
As for next up, no idea. Summer sucks for motivation and almost everything people recommend or that I feel I should play are 60+ hour long behemoths. I have 4 hours a day. If I’m lucky.
Ixeal is definitely in my list of things to do, as well as Rewrite Harvest Festa if that actually comes out. Once October comes I intend on finally running through Rance 9 and then we’ll see how much time is left for the month for Dohna Dohna or Demon Roots. I might “play” White Album, aka skip the story and just beat the game so people can skip the gameplay or something as I’ve heard that part of the game is bad. I have a few days of vacation coming up so I’ll likely try to start and finish a game during them, or maybe finally clean up Shanae Half Genie. I actually have like 3 or 4 games that only need like 5-10 hours to finish that I really should just go and do…
Basically, I’m a mess. Dungeon Travelers was a mistake. Things are going up and plans are vaguely existing. Happy day, good week.
Oh, and starting Brown Dust 2 was probably a mistake.
