Legend of Queen Opala 2 -Golden Edition

H-Scene Count- 19, with 13 having two cg variations, and 3 miniscenes one for each royal impreg stuff

Created by Swegabe

Length- 20-40 hours due to some grinding

The sequel to LOQO 1(duh), the final part of 2 was finally released early February 2014, and immediately received both complaint and praise. If you go into this game expecting the same as the first, you will be disappointed, but this is a good long rpg in its own right.

First the good. The h-scene writing quality is as good as before and their is even two art styles to choose from, eastern and western that have unique scenes. Their is an issue you might have though compared to the last game, due to how Swegabe wrote the game  only 4 scenes include the protagonist, the rest mostly being rape/gangrape/bestiality stuff(that the girls tend to enjoy by the end).

Gaemplay

One great change is the addition of quick travel and an unlockable run feature. The world is big, and this helps a lot, to bad you can only run outdoors. Later RPG Maker versions have running on shift, plus combat speed up, but this is made on an older system so sadly we get a more roundabout run feature, which activates with the A key once you unlock it.

The combat is the same as the first with magic being pointless and buffs your best friend. There are now around 5 times as many h pictures in the game to view and collect, making the game an even bigger collectathon(though whether that’s a good thing is up to you). The story is around 5 times longer with the world also being around that much bigger. Plus the companions have much more personality(as in some) and have some meaning to the plot. The day/night system returns, and a few more events happen at night, but its still really only for grinding since enemy numbers increase at night and now it has become something of a quest hider. If you don’t check a location or two at night, you can’t beat the game and their is no hint.

If you like pregnancy, there is some in this game. Two hscenes focus on impregnation or birthing, and you can have the royals(the three main heroines) give birth to your non human children whenever you like once you beat the game, accompanied by some cg. I don’t care that much for this, but it is there for the people who asked for it. These have a miniscene attached in the Golden Edition

This used to be a rant about the difficulty jump, which I believe was fixed by making enemies drop more xp and have lower defenses, making the fights possible. There is also now an easy mode you can pick upon startup, which starts you at level 50 if you want to never grind for levels.

The game has two NG+.The 2nd NG+ is completely uneeded. It gives you an item that lets you choose artstyle and something to unlock all scenes if you missed one, but nothing else new happens. NG+ at least has more things to collect and you can pick the other artstyle for h scenes. There is a lot of missing potential in the post game and new game systems as they are. Golden Edition added a few quests, which do close up a few events, but in general the end game still feels very empty compared to the previous game.

Compared to the first game where you could early in choose good or evil, there is only one path in the game, for better or worse. There is still a good evil system, but I never found a real use or meaning in it. It might change some ending text, and doing the bad ends for the royals(which there are 6, 3 for each artstyle) does give evil points, but its not like someone won’t join you due to how evil you are. It just feels like an uneeded karma system.

Post game compared to the first game is sad as well. There are no postgame exclusive areas, just a few bosses and quests, plus being able to recruit everyone since every character blocks another due to story telling(this is worthless due to how far behind in levels they will be). You can go activate the bad ends, which is why the final boss is refightable. The recruit thing is also the only way to bring every female character to red heart affection by giving them things(yay affection system) which will give you h pictures of them and stat boosts, making this an alright thing. It also means the male members will never be better then the girls.

You can buy a house in the game, and to me it is one of my favorite thing to spend gold on, at expense of my equipment. Thanks to Golden, your companions and some animals can b at your house, making it feel less empty then before. You can also marry one of the 3 main girls to live in your house, where you can do the impreg miniscene whenever you want. The miniscenes reuse art assets, but do have some more lovey writing to reflect the relationship with the character.

Just one note, I believe most of the negatives from the original are because of fan impatience. Swegabe failed a deadline she set and had a computer problem that set her back a few months of progress, but it was partly the fans trying to rush her and get her to release that caused some of the empty features like NGU. It is also a bad idea on her part to announce a release date when things were not done by then and not keeping people informed.

Now while I do complain, the game is good, the closest to an epic hrpg rpgmaker currently has. If anything, play and beat the main game and stop, or replay once to see the other work and the few karma changes. This is a solid rpg for those looking for one, and is a very long old style rpg. It just fails in post story stuff.

Save is me standing in front of a girl. Talk to her, choose training and scene replay will be an option. You will have all my stats and items due to how scenes are saved in game and not separate like most vns would. Also, all pictures/the animation and such are unlocked and viewable in the art gallery in your inventory.

If you want the pregnancy stuff, go upstairs, sleep to night, go outside talk to the crystal, teleport to Thebes, go two screens right, then up. The three rooms on the left have a royal each, talk to them to get them pregnant. Then use the hourglass in your inventory, go outside the palace, go left once screen and in the building talk to the royal and you will get a quick birthing scene. You can change what is birthed by using the Tribal Medicine in your inventory. Also all achievements unlocked for those that care about that.

One other thing. I don’t have a royal married in the save since you can only choose one. If you really like one of them or something, just use the crystal to find a tavern/bar/pub and talk to that royal you want and invite her home.

If you check my collection screen I have completed more quests then in the game, that is because of the way things were when I played at the start. It doesn’t change anything so I let it be.
